A tie? A grooming kit? Please…. If your father enjoys the outdoors, don’t settle for a standard, boring Father’s Day gift this year. Get him something that he will truly enjoy.
Consider something that he can use for whatever outdoor activities he loves the most. Does he like fishing? Hunting? Hiking? Camping? If so, sit down and brainstorm some ideas that will make those activities even more enjoyable. Here are a few ideas to get you started.
Just hurry up! You have less than a month to find the perfect gift.

One of these items from our Christmas gift list.
In December, we put together a list of items that would make great Christmas presents for the outdoorsman in your life. Any one of these would also make an excellent Father’s Day gift. I personally love my Luminaid Packlite lantern, my Real Deal Brazil tarp hat, and my minimalist pocket knife.
A rocking camp chair.
My own dad has one of these and he loves it. On our camping trip a few weeks ago, he brought his rocking chair along and sat around the campfire “rocking” the night away. There are so many camp chair options now that there is sure to be one that your dad would love as a gift. I personally own one with it’s own sunshade.
A new pocket knife.
I have so many pocket knives, but I still want more! Be sure to buy CRKT, Gerber, Spyderco, Benchmade, Kershaw, Buck, or other brands you recognize. Some of these are inexpensive (and made in China), but some are handmade in the USA and pricey. My preference is about a 3 inch blade, liner-lock folding knife with a pocket clip as they are a good size and offer easy one-hand operation. My everyday carry knife is the Gerber Remix. It’s the perfect size and inexpensive to replace if I happen to lose it.
Gift card to his favorite sporting goods store.
I know this can seem like a cop-out, but if you are at all unsure of what he wants or needs, gift cards are an excellent option. Figure out what is near you …Cabela’s, Bass Pro, Scheels…and give him a few gift cards. If you are at all unsure of what to buy him, it’s better to let him do the shopping himself. Just be sure to plan some time that he can get to the store and use them.
Send him fishing…or camping…or whatever it is he enjoys the most.
Giving a physical gift is just fine, but maybe what your father needs is simply the time to get away in the outdoors and do whatever it is he loves. Maybe that means him going alone or maybe that means the whole family comes along. Give him the choice. Let him know you’ll take care of whatever needs to be done that might keep him from going and push him out the door.
What about you? What outdoor oriented gifts have you given your father? What do you have in mind for this year?
